Product name: Calcium chloride
CAS: 10043-52-4
Molecular formula: COCl
Relative density: 2.15 g/mL at 25
Physical and chemical properties: Colorless cubic crystals, white or grayish
white, granular, Honeycomb block, spherical, irregular granular, powder.
Subtoxic, odorless, slightly bitter taste. Hygroscopicity is extremely strong
and it is easy to deliquescent when exposed to air. Soluble in water, while
releasing a large amount of heat(the dissolved enthalpy of calcium chloride is
-176.2 cal/g), its aqueous solution is slightly acidic.
Uses: Used as a multi-purpose drying agent, such as for the drying of nitrogen,
oxygen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide and other gases. Used as a
desiccant in the production of alcohols, esters, ethers and acrylic resins.
Calcium chloride aqueous solution is an important refrigerant for refrigeration
and ice making. It can accelerate the hardening of concrete and increase the
cold resistance of building mortar. It is an excellent building antifreeze. It
is used as a fogging agent and pavement dust collector and fabric fire
retardant in the port. Used as a protective agent and refining agent for
aluminum magnesium metallurgy. It is a precipitator for the production of
chromatid pigments. Used for deinking waste paper processing. It is a raw
material for the production of calcium salt.
